Problem

Traditional social media overlooks the small, spontaneous moments that are actually worth remembering — optimizing instead for highlight reels and immediate validation.

Solution

Snapshots is a collaborative time capsule that introduces a 24-hour delay between capture and reveal, drawing on user research in memory and nostalgia so reliving moments feels emotional, intentional, and collective.

The Process

Design architecture

Optional deep dive — how the problem became the shipped product.

Phase 01 · discovery

Research into memory + nostalgia

Interviewed users about which photos they actually return to and what makes a moment worth keeping versus forgotten.

Phase 02 · system

24-hour delay as a design constraint

Modeled a delivery cadence where moments arrive a day later, so the app sits between camera roll and social feed without competing with either.

Phase 03 · execution

Shared capsules, shared perspectives

Designed a capsule object where everyone present sees the same moment from multiple angles — one shared artifact instead of parallel solo feeds.
